Matt Clark is the founder of United Visual Artists. He provides the conceptual and artistic direction for the studio’s output. He studied both Fine Art Sculpture and Communication Design at Camberwell College of Art London. Matt regularly teaches at the Royal College of Art as a visiting lecturer and gives frequent talks internationally.
Will has a background in architecture and now works across a wide range of spatial, physical and detail design challenges. He is responsible for leading each project's spatial design output. Will has an MArch from the University of Westminster and a BA in Architecture from Sheffield University.
Maximo is a multi-disciplinary designer. He supports the development of design and conceptual challenges related to the studios work. Maximo has a Masters from Royal College in Art in Information Experience design and a BA from London College of Communication in Interaction and Moving Image.
In his role as an interaction designer, Willem uses code to create form and behaviour. His work focuses on making the digital interpret the physical, and how digital processes can be manifested in physical space. Willem has a Bachelors degree in Interaction Design from ArtEZ University of the Arts (The Netherlands) where he won the Arnhemse Nieuwe Award.
Lee specialises in technical system design and project delivery. Utilising his experience in a variety of technical and creative roles, he focuses on the integration and installation of experiential technologies.
Jon is an architectural designer. He supports the development of the studio’s projects designing both physical and virtual spaces. Jon graduated from the Architectural Association with the AA Diploma and has a BA Hons in Architecture from the University of Lincoln.
Holly supports the studio with project management and logistics. She has a fine art background backed up by several years experience in the event sector working on project mobilisations and creative development.
Past team members
Matt Clark founded UVA in 2003 together with Chris Bird and Ash Nehru. Around 2010 Chris and Ash turned their focus to D3, a software tool originally developed for UVA projects, and at the end of 2017 they both moved on from UVA as directors to pursue their personal interests. Over the years, a number of talented designers, engineers and producers have contributed to the realisation of UVA’s work. These include Annika Bird, Alexandros Tsolakis, Ben Kreukniet, Tiemen Rapati, Vincent de Belleval, Ellen Thomas, Nick Found, James Medcraft, Joel Lewis, Dave Ferner, Rosie Mitchell and Keri Elmsly to name but a few.
