Fragment continues United Visual Artists’ ongoing study into scientific models of nature and the studio’s experiments in utilising light as a formable material.
The site specific installation investigates our (in)ability to correctly interpret the surrounding environment by blending the manmade and natural. 421 octahedron frames are assembled to form an inverted pyramid, suspended in a day-lit atrium. Light rays penetrate and rebound off the geometries within the structure downwards into the space to create fragmented images. Fragment is a study of form and geometry that reveals how light behaves by setting up an interplay between animated artificial white light and sun light.
